Welcoming a new baby is a big transition - especially for older siblings. Including them in your newborn photos not only helps them feel special, but also captures the start of a lifelong bond.

Here’s how to make sure everyone (big and small) enjoys the experience:
1. Talk About the Session Ahead of Time
A few days before, start telling your child what to expect:
“We’re going to take some pictures together with the baby! You’ll get to hold them, hug them, and show how much you love them.” Kids love knowing what’s coming - and it helps ease nerves.
2. Let Them Participate
Even toddlers love being “helpers.” Let them pick out a special blanket or stuffed animal to include, or help choose their outfit (from a few parent-approved options).
When they feel involved, they’ll be more excited to cooperate.

3. Keep It Short and Sweet
I always start newborn sessions with sibling photos first. That way, your older child feels important - and can relax, play, or head home with dad/grandparents once their part is done.
Sessions move quickly and gently, with breaks as needed.
4. Go with the Flow
Don’t worry if big brother or sister isn’t perfectly posed - those candid giggles, hugs, and glances often turn into the most cherished images.
5. Reward with Love (Not Pressure)
A special treat afterward - ice cream, a movie, or extra snuggles - helps them associate the session with something fun.
✨ At the heart of every sibling photo is connection — capturing not just a new baby, but the love that’s growing right alongside them.
